Hi Richard,
Millet - Glad that you've managed to get it before the birds! And yes, providing it's ready ( all seeds are beige color, not green! )just rub it off the stalks into a bowl. When done shake the bowl and the seed should sink to the bottom, leaving the lighter chaff on the surface. By blowing across the bowl, gently, you can get rid of a lot of the chaff. You may want to also put it through a sieve, smaller than the millet seed! to allow any dust to be cleaned off. Then as you said simply store in a cool, dry place. Paper bags are preferable to plastic since they allow the grain to breathe, and hence less likely to go rotten. If there's a little chaff left don't worry its only extra fibre!
Enjoy.

Great article. It really does go to show how easy it is to build an effective solar oven out of scrap materials, even wardrobe mirrors.

@spanishhighs. Parabolic solar cookers are the most effective type of solar cooker, but also the most difficult to make.

Here are some posts I wrote which you may find of interest.

We have had a try at one. Not too successful Im afraid. Yours is just a box shape and works well. The info on the internet suggests that a parabolic shape is good too. Im sure that is the case but how on earth do you make that?

As you say, here in Spain the sun is not as much of an issue. Rice in less than 2hrs though is great, especially when it has cost nothing, either in euros or in damage to the environment.
